Good news: I got the funnest (and funniest) Christmas card ever yesterday. You guys make our day. You seriously need to have a blog-a-cation at our house. But, probably not until I stock up on inhalers. I have a feeling I'd be laughing myself into asthma fairly regularly while you were here.
Bad news: Meg came home with an outline for a social studies project that she's supposed to be working on over Christmas break! Isn't Christmas "break" supposed to be a BREAK!! Instead we'll be researching a paper on ancient Egypt and making a 3D sarcophogus (if you can believe that....Meg got to pick from several things and that's what she picked...geez). I had to sign the paper saying that I knew she had the assignment, but I added a note that I was signing but WASN'T HAPPY about it. She's only in 6th grade, for pete's sake and how are you supposed to plan family time when she has to do homework!!!!!! OK, I'm not over it, but I'll shut up now.

I hate homework!! My 6th grader comes home with at least 3 hours a day of homework to do.
I am not a homework fan either. I especially hate projects. If you got the card I think you got, then I am so glad you liked it. It served it's purpose!
Major bummer... and when they're in 6th grade, it means YOU have homework, even worse. I remember my dad being anti-helping us with projects. I still don't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing.
I hate it when teachers assign big projects like that. It's pointless because the parents end up doing most of it. Especially if it's something that requires any artistic skill (which my oldest doesn't possess).
PS. I heard there's a really gorgeous Christmas card floating around out there...
Meesa: I can see Eric being un-helpful, he wasn't big on that sort of thing the first time around. I always wonder who much "help" is too much. But, usually it just gets to the "get the d*&% thing over with) point and I probably do too much. Meg loves projects, and she's great at starting them... not so good at finishing them.
Projects BLOW. My 5th grader has a MAJOR science fair project due right after the new year. I'm feeling your pain.
When you make the sarcophogus, put a little effigy of the teacher in it... maybe with a big needle sticking in its chest.
I'm still smiling/giggling over THAT card!!! BEST CHRISTMAS CARD EVER!!!!!
Super bummer about homework...what's up with that??? I'm guessing Jackson would have christmas homework too but since it looks like our Snow day is turning out to be a snow week, we might have dodged that bullet.
Plus, I totally 2nd Markies idea.
I'm thirding Markie's idea! That teacher ought to be lynched! No one should have to do a huge project over the Christmas holidays. She's probably one of those atheist that hate Christmas.
I was bummed that my kids only have to read during the break. I wish there were no homework ever. They get our kids for like 7 hours a day, isn't that enough for them to do what they need to?
